My rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after—and, if need be, during—all meals and in the intervals between them.
— Winston Churchill
SIRIS Cigar Bar is located in the NoMA2 District (the west side of the 200 block of North Main Street) in historic downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan, adjacent to the lively Kerrytown neighborhood.
Housed in an early twentieth-century “Commercial–style” 1901 brick building that started life as a wholesale cigar-and-tobacco emporium, SIRIS carries on this 120-year tradition with a cigar-lounge sports bar on the top level, and our private-events space, THE CIGAR CELLAR, one level below that, open to the public on evenings when there is no private event scheduled.
SIRIS is owned and operated by three local entrepreneurs and cigar enthusiasts, the Kouza brothers.
SIRIS’ walk-in humidor, curated by noted cigar authority Aaron “Sig” Sigmond, stocks some of the most renowned premium hand-rolled, long-filler cigar brands, including a full range from Arturo Fuente and J.C. Newman. (Established in 1895, J.C. Newman is the oldest family-owned premium cigar maker in the United States.)
THE CIGAR CELLAR at SIRIS didn’t start out as a cellar, or anything that could remotely accommodate a 50-foot-long standing bar—it was little more than a crawlspace. However, in 2016, the Kouza brothers decided to undertake the daunting remodeling and excavation project to transform that crawlspace into the visionary second subterranean level and private-events venue it is today.
In the end, the project required three teams, 18 months and tons of soil and rock excavated (small boulders, that is—one boulder was too large to be removed). This cozy cocktail and cigar haven—reminiscent of smoky speakeasy-era lounges—accommodates private parties from 20 to 50.
AARON "SIG" SIGMOND is SIRIS’ in-house cigar curator and consultant. He’s a bestselling cigar author and creative executive who has traversed the world of cigars both personally and professionally for more than 30 years.
Sigmond got his start in the cigar industry as part of the management team of the Rodeo Drive Davidoff of Geneva and The Keep Club, a private cigar lounge above the Beverly Hills boutique. Two years later he would create the world’s second cigar glossy, SMOKE magazine—a decade long affiliation would follow. He went on to become contributing cigar editor for Playboy, a collaboration that led to his authoring of the 2010 bestseller PLAYBOY: The Book of Cigars.
Sigmond has also lent his industry expertise to a variety of major brands: He served as the consulting creative director of General Cigar Co. (makers of Macanudo and Partagas) and consulting executive director of retail for Nat Sherman, a NYC institution since 1930. In 2019, Sigmond released his second cigar-centric book, The Impossible Collection of Cigars.
Smell like you did when you came in—well, pretty close, at any rate. You should spend your time at SIRIS enjoying the fine aroma of blue cigar smoke, not wearing it when you depart. To ensure that the smoke goes up and out rather than all over you, SIRIS features a state-of-the-art air-filtration system with high-efficiency filters capable of cycling out all the air in the building in under 30 seconds.
SIRIS offers more than 100 Scotch, Irish and Japanese whiskies, as well as American bourbons and ryes—and nearly 500 spirits in all.
We also feature six seasonal drinks and an array of classic cocktails—if you can name it, we will make it. Seasonal drinks can be found on our Instagram account: @SIRISCigarLounge
Four times a year, SIRIS and cigar industry luminaries hosts a multi-course sit-down cigar makers’ supper that showcases cigars paired with vintage wines and select spirits—see Instagram and your server for details.

Please note that all parties over 20 will be assessed a 20% gratuity.
PARKING: There is both on-street parking (metered until 6p.m., except Sundays), and the “Ann Ashley” Republic Parking Garage, with 827 spaces directly behind SIRIS.
